Jesus Is Life

The picture you see above is the glass door of one of our Church Families homes. They sent me this picture through text Sunday night. Being quarantined at home Arianna and Lilly found something creative to do. They used glass art paint and painted their front door. I think it is beautiful and so inviting. This reminded me of one of the scripture verses that I have been pondering on for several weeks now. Psalm 90:1 “Lord, through all the generations you have been our home!”

Psalm 90 is entitled a Prayer of Moses. Here he is giving God praise for being the dwelling-place-the refuge-the help in all generations.

This prayer of Moses was written during the 40 years of the Israelites desert wanderings due to their lack of trust and unfaithfulness. But even then, God was their refuge and their home.

If you are a child of God, then you are at home in God. He is your comfort and your place of safety. Even amid crisis and uncertainty, inside the door you are sheltered in God.

Look at the beautiful door again. It says,

“Jesus is Life” Wow!, what a witness to their neighbors.  Yes, the only way to Life, is through Jesus Christ.  God gives us eternal life in His Son. He did this out of Love.

John 3:16 says “For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”

There had to be a sacrifice for our sins. Your sin and mine. …. “for without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.”   (Hebrews 9:22)

The blood had to be from a spotless lamb and there was only one, Jesus Christ.

“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” ( 2 Corinthians 5:21).

After Jesus rose from the grave, He told his disciples in John 14:9 “Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live.”

Aren’t you thankful for the Door of Life?

John 1:12 says,  “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”

Are you a child of God? I hope so. Maybe you have stepped out on the porch. Perhaps you are just sitting there, and the door is behind you. Have you moved into the yard, or even kicking rocks at the edge of the driveway?  It could be that you have left, and you can’t even see the door anymore because you are too far away.

WELL, He is calling!  It’s time to come back Home while there is no lock on this door. Would you surrender from your ways and trust Him once again?

Jesus is the Door to Home, our Dwelling Place.  Because of the Cross, and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, we can now have Life!  It’s Open!
